Meet the Team: Ben Sparrenberger
August 28, 2020

If you have been to our State Street location, chances are you have met branch manager Ben Sparrenberger. With an infectiously positive attitude, Ben has been serving the customers of Peoples Bank for 7 years. A lifelong native of Evansville and graduate of Harrison High School and the University of Southern Indiana, Ben had considered a career in banking since childhood. During a mini economy project in the 5th grade, he was assigned to be a banker. “Apparently it’s always been in my head to be in banking. I just didn’t realize it until I was older” he said. Ben studied Radio and Television in college, but met Peoples Bank CEO Mark Hendrickson while working a customer service job outside the financial industry. That conversation eventually led to a career in banking. Now Ben is happy to spend his days helping customers with mortgages, checking and savings accounts, and whatever else needs done to lead the team at State Street.

Ben takes pride in what Peoples Bank can offer customers at the State Street location, which is the only banking facility in downtown Newburgh. He is excited to see his regular customers and honored that they trust him enough to recommend their friends and family to Peoples. He’s worked at other banks that are focused on selling more and more products to customers, but he’s glad to be at Peoples where he says the focus is on “building a relationship instead of just a transaction.”

Outside of work, Ben enjoys going on walks with his wife, Lori, and their scotty dog, Lucy, listening to his collection of vinyl records, or watching YouTube videos about the car and airline industries. Ben and Lori also spend a lot of time with Lori’s sons, one of whom is in the marching band at Harrison High School and the other is working for Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch in Indianapolis. He also serves on the board of directors for the Newburgh Museum, just a short walk from the branch.
